I'm really considering usuing rubs rather than faunariums for my royal(s) when I get them. How do you make the air holes? Do you have any tips or instructions for an idea rub setup. I wondered if people could post pics of their Royal setups if they use rubs or direct me to a thread if there already is one.
Thank you peeps |

To avoid scratchy bits its better to melt the holes using a soldering iron or failing that get an oven glove on and heat up a thick knitting needle or a similar pointy object using a blow torch or gas hob. Just avoid setting fire to the box, the glove, yourself or the house. Failing that use a drill and make sure to cut off any scratchy bits. |

I just use a drill, very easy, then just rub over quickly with rough grade sand paper. By the way rubs are much easier to keep clean and talking to any expert you`ll always be told that Royals will do much bettter in them than vivs. Am not home at the moment but will post pictures of my setup later. |

I get a large screwdriver, stick it in the gas fire or on a gas ring. Melts holes like a dream, no rough edges. |

Now there's an idea. I could do that easy and save a few pennies rather than buy a soldering iron. Cheers.
Pics would be great, cheers Hodgie.

Amazing rub set up Anetess. Yeh I just use a power drill and a quick rub down after. I put holes round the lid and a few low down on the cool side and high up on the hot side to aid air circulation. Will post pic when on computer. |

That looks fantastic. I didn't think a rub would look that good if im honest but that is very pleasing to the eye indeed! |

lexi is in a 50ltr rub. I just got a metal bbq skewer, popped in gas ring and pierced through. the royals at work are all hissy when in vivs and dont feed, dont know why but in rubs they are spot on so thats why we went for this option x |

I will put the heat mat under the rub the same way I do with my King snakes rub. The mat will also have a thermostat attached. |

There's no need for a ceramic light for a RUB set-up. |
