Certainly sounds like he's interested. You could try leaving it in with him overnight, as long as there's no danger of him swallowing substrate along with the rat, and he may take it - one of my girls sometimes likes to be left alone with her rat. Otherwise, pity to waste the rat, but just leave him till next feeding day and try him again. He'll get there - early days yet. All the best. |

Medium rat? - that sounds a bit big for a 1050g Royal, maybe he didn't think he could take it. Having said that, different shops sell different weights as different sizes.
My suppliers sell ~120g rats as small rats, mediums are around 180g (which is why I say it may be too large?). |

Medium rats from my supplier are 162g average according to their table of weights.
Hi, Welsby, did he eat his rat? |

Hi, pity he didn't eat it but it's early days yet. Try him again on his next feeding day; it will do him no harm to wait and by then he may have worked up an appetite and decide to grab that rat while he can. Good luck! |
