I wouln't think so, as long as he / she is healthy and friendly, I don't see a problem with it at all. |

'Course not. It's nice to get a hatchling and watch it grow up, but imo they're lovely at any age. I got an 06 girl via Preloved - the biggest snake I'd ever handled actually, and so gentle. Kelfezond on this forum recently bought a teenage royal.
Obviously care needs to be exercised about buying a snake in good condition, but that applies just as much to a hatchling. Some adult snakes may have been allowed to get into poor dietary habits ...mine's a mouse junkie, naughty girl, but I hope to wean her on to rats soon.
Hatchlings are gorgeous but I think snakes improve with age. |

Hi, Wiltedrose, forgot to ask, why did she bite you?
Was it feeding response - they're a bit thick sometimes, think a finger's a juicy mouse, or is she grumpy and going into blue?
Whatever, you're not a fully fledged snake keeper until you've been tagged lol! |

Ah - been there, done that! The snake strikes at the prey, but because the human hand holding the prey is warmer, it directs its strike to the highest heat source. Nobbut a feeding response.
(I bought tongs - just kitchen ones from Wilkinsons for £2 - after that lol.) |

Lol nah it wasn't a feeding response, i was taking a rat out that she wouldnt eat for hours after leaving it in there, I should have known she wasn't happy because of her hissing up a storm, I use tongs but for some reason she is not eating. She shows a huge amount of interest, but just wont take it!!!!!!!!! grrr its annoying :P |
