Right so now that I've asked around and been reassured of any questions I have needed answered I can finally get round to creating a shopping list for a 2010 Royal male. I have come up with the following items and, if appropriate, hope to put the process of buying and caring for a new member of the family by mid-summer. Fingers crossed! Here is my list:
Vivexotic LX36 vivarium-although the viv seems quite large for a 2010, I hope that by filling the viv out with a lot of different plants and decoration, the snake will feel less daunted by the prospect-although it will mean that cleaning will take a lot longer! Also some non-toxic aquarium sealant just to be sure that the viv doesn't fall apart 
Microclimate B1ME Dimmer Stat-I've heard that these guys provide a similar serivce to Habistat and seem to offer the same products for a slightly lower price. Hopefully this proves true. Daytime-32C and 26C. Nightime-30C and 24C?
Zoo Med Infra red Heat Bulb 100w-Everyone on this forum seems to use infrared heat bulbs and everyone seems like experts on the subject. Why not use something that works!
Appropriately sized Heat Bulb Guard-an obvious addition
Lucky Reptile Thermometer-Hygro Deluxe Pro-although this seems like a waste of money-I would like to easily be able to monitor the temps (and humidity just in case) at two places at the same time. I'm just worried about achieving that all important temperature gradient 
Aspen Substrate-this would be a nicer aesthetic addition but in practice, kitchen roll may be easier when it comes to feeding and cleaning.
At least 2x hides-I want the snake to be as comfortable in the viv so there may be up to 5 different hides in there eventually but at least 2 are a must-it's just the sizes that I'm unsure about.
At least 1 water bowl-appropriate to the size of the snake to begin with but upgraded as the snake grows
A number of branches, jungle vines, plants just to make the viv look good and provide some feeling of security 
That's about the bare bones of it. Obviously I'm going to need some other things-antiseptic gel, food, spare bulbs, and light fittings etc. but as for the vital specialised equipment how does that look?
Please comment and suggest more if I've forgotten anything. Sorry for the essay.

Hi, sounds good to me!
For vivs check out Swell Reptiles/Surrey Pet Supplies - SPS is defnitely cheapest for plants and aspen and I like their 'Trixie' hides although the Exo-Terra are heavier.
For water bowls you can't beat ordinary pottery doggy bowls from Wilkinsons - easy to clean as well.

Sound like a happy snake house in the making!
Only other thing i would say is to get some disinfectant for cleaning the viv and the water bowl etc. Most use F10 but i am using Arkcleanse.

| Oh yeah! Forgot about that, thanks for reminding me :) Sure I would've thought about it eventually... Surrey Pet Supplies is probably where I'm going to get the majority of the equipment. They come up cheapest on nearly all Google shopping searches and are only 20 minutes away! Hurrah! |

| You should try living in Germany Bats. Everything is well expensive and the vivs you get in Britain are very hard to find and well over priced. |
