I have been looking everywhere for a larger bowl. The largest dog bowl I could find is still too small if one of the adults wants a bath.

Has anyone looked at building one out of resin or similar? I would love to build a corner pool that was big enough for them to curl up in.

Cat trays do not have enough weight to them, my girl at 1.86gb would soon have it toppled over leaving a gallon of water on the viv floor. I know in general it would work, but I am looking for a solution that not only does the job, but looks the part also. thanks for the reply though.

I have made my own but I'm lucky enough to have ceramic clay kilns etc at work. Although i just planned to make a water bath for Boris, designed it and decided on the glaze, only to discover that it contained lead and other poisonous minerals and wasnt safe for food use....back to the drawing board!

There are alot of casting resins available, not sure of their safety. Also you can get a non firing clay, (air drying) but i suspect it wouldn't hold water.

I use a glass oven dish as a bath for Boris (boa) an earthenware one would be fine but glass ensures that i can see any mites if there are any! These come in a huge choice of sizes, ones designed for quiches or pies are great!

I did look at some pyrex dishes as they have the required wieght and strength, I could I suppose find a large pyrex and use air drying clay around it to improve the look.

We use an old biscuit tub. It's got a lid and two holes in it, with water in it's heavy enough for our 1800g Male to get in and soak and not tip it over.

When boris gets in his pie dish he looks 'oven ready' lol!
You could make a dish holder from clay, if you used enough coats of acrylic varnish or paint, it should seal it well enough. Then the dish could be lifted out for cleaning etc.

There is a large corner dish on the market - the Zoomed repti-rock corner bowl (XXL size.) One one website it gave dimensions of 14" x 14" but with only 3" depth - if a royal got into that, the water would probably get out, alas.

Cheapest price I can find is Blue Lizard, £25.53, free delivery if you buy £50 or over of equipment.

LOL - happy to help!

Also there are charity shops - stoneware casserole dishes can be had for a few pounds, and look good.

Also, as to water dishes, the last time I went into my local Instore (Poundstretcher) they were selling large ceramic doggy water bowls in a pleasing plain pale blue with ivory inner, no horrible decoration, and cheaper than Wilkinson - think the one I bought was 2 or 3 quid.

I have a large plain doggy bowl, just over 3 inches deep and about 10 inches across, but once my girl gets out theres about 5mm of water left lol. I called blue lizard and they dont stock them, only the small sized ones, I would have to order them.

BUY, I am back on the idea of a self build, looking at using OASIS blocks to build a rougth casting mould, coat it and fill with a resin+natural dye. I have emailed the company about the resins to ensure they are food safe, so lets see :)
