I know a couple of you live in Hampshire as well and was wondering if you knew of any good shops that sell frozen rats?

Dio's just started taking Jumbo mice so we've run out of mouse sizes and need to get some rats when all the mice have gone. The place i usually get my mice from don't do rats and the last couple of reptile shops i went into didn't have any of the smaller rats.

I've looked into ordering online but it's not worth the bulk buy with only the one snake and there nowhere to have them delivered to where i'd be allowed to keep them frozen until i can take them to the OH's. He's at work all day aswell so they can't be delivered to his either.

Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

I don't know of any shops but one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, suppliers, A&N (I'm biased, because I use them) is in the south of England, in Suffolk. If a few people in Hampshire clubbed together, if it was practicable, you could share a delivery and delivery costs?

Hope you find somewhere - but it could be good to get Dio on to rats (sorry if that's tactless) as it will save a lot of trouble later on.

I live about 1/4 mile from the Hants border, in a place called Mudeford so to be honest just saying Hampshire might not help people in giving you hints for decent reptile shops for food as Portsmouth , which is also in Hants is an hour and a half drive away. Hampshire covers some 1600 odd square miles, there are multiple people on this forum and many others that could probably recommend somewhere decent or work something out with you in regards splitting the cost of a bulk online order as BATS suggested, but without a bit more info on your location it doesn't help anyone.

BATS its alright it wasn't tactless. Infact due to the bad weather we've been unable to bury Asti so she's currently in the freezer waiting. I'll have to stop the temptation to 'recycle' her in Dio.

Kehhlyr i live in southampton but the OH travels all over Hampshire for his work everyday so is able to get some while he's at work and keep the frozen in a cool box.

Kelfezond we tried south coast exotics but they didn't have any rats the right size. We will try them again soon especially as the OH is after one of their Imperial Scorpions. We also tried Emsworth Aquaria & reptiles but didn't have any either.

Aah, sorry Dio, have just re-read this thread - and I don't know what I was thinking about when I typed that first post ...I thought you were looking for a place that sold the right-sized mice, and have now realised you're after rats ...sorry

Aww, poor Asti. That must be awful - you could always get her cremated and keep her in a flowerpot with a plant of your choice or gravel/pebble arrangement?

Hope soon there will be a little Asti Asbo junior rat running about.

We've got the hole dug for her but it filled with rain water. Now the weathers a bit better we should be able to bury her this weekend.

I don't think i'll get any more rats. Mostly because i'd like to live with the OH at some point and he doesn't like rats. I've got Dio so thats enough for me.

Have you tried Grange Reptiles near Botley?
I've not been there personally but I've heard mixed opinions about the staff there, but never heard a bad word about the food issues or any other animals there. Aside from maybe the prices.
Might be worth going to have a mooch, unless that is the one you went to.

I've not been to that one actually. I'll drag the OH there next time we've both got the day off. I won't even bother getting them from the shop we got Dio from as they charged us £3.50 for 5 mouse fluffs so i'd hate to think how much they'd charge for rats.

Have you tried Cadnam Aquatics? Not sure on prices, I get all my food from a mate who works for Peregrine Livefoods, but you could give it a go.
