Hi Becky, nice looking snake. Be careful with that thermometer if it is still sticky as it could become attached to the snake. Btw, on the ground is the best place for it anyway as that is where the snake will be so that is where the temperature is important.
I would suggest at least 2 hides, one at the warm end and one at the cool so that the snake can choose and thermoregulate.
