Can the colour of the rat affect feeding...? I just tried kane on a black and white rat and he approached it at first but then backed off and eventually went into his hide... I've only fed him white ones before today!  |

I've heard this can happen, and when switching one boy from white mice to rats, chose a white rat just in case. He took. But another pair of mine accepted different coloured rodents okay.
Could be he's just not in feeding mode today? Could be a good idea to leave the rat in his cool end and if he is affected by its colour, he might come to realise that it's still food, and take it.

| I didnt wanna feed him anyway cause he's only been in his new viv since thursday but he was acting like he normally does when hungry so i tried but he werent interested... Ill try again in a couple of days with a white rat, he doesnt eat his food if i leave it for some reason, he just lays on it...? |

Ah, a change of viv can (sometimes!) make them miss a meal, and sounds like he was having a good old explore - a change of surroundings makes them extra curious and active.
Lol - they're funny when they use the rat as a pillow. I'd just about given up with Shiva last time when he did this - then he suddenly coiled round ratty (no teeth, just the coil) so I gave ratty another wiggle to make it seem like it was alive, and he ate it ...

He's definitely an odd one! I think im still just getting used to his routine, ill leave him a few more days then ill offer him another one... I thought he was looking for food and not exploring cause he's already gone past his feed day and when I first put him in his new viv he practically went straight for his hide and didn't come back out so I didn't think he was bothered by the fact its wasn't his usual one...
He's only my second snake, after my corn snake died unexpectedly a couple of years ago :(... My girlfriend got me kane for my birthday, but I definitely love em and will more than likely end up with a collection of reptiles |

| My male Cerberus is like this for some reason, give him a black rat and bam he's having it but with a white he either ignores it completely or just plays with it lol. |
