I set a thermostat to my heat mat yesterday, sensor on top of the newspaper substrate..set at 32.

Trouble is the digital thermometer is reading 34-35

The mat is very warm, but not uncomfortable to hold my hand to, so now not sure what to do.

Fea is resting on top of his hide..just fed.

Turn the thermostat down 3 degree's

the numbers on the thermostat dial are pointless they might as well just say 'hot' and 'cold' you have to find the sweetspot yourself with a thermometer

YUP, that's exactly it. They should save some money and not bother printing the numbers on at all, they are misleading (though my Habistat Dimming stats are spot on, all 4 of them).

34-35 will not feel hot, your body temperature is 37oC would have to be higher than that to feel hot to you.
