Hi could anybody give me a few possible reasons as to why my corn would Regurge her meal about 36 hours after eating? She's on fluffs and this particular one was a little bigger than she normally eats but managed to eat it anyway... She was fed Friday afternoon and my girlfriend forget she had been fed (we've had a hectic week) and got her out yesterday afternoon which we think could maybe be the reason why but wouldn't she have regurgitated it almost straight away? She did it early hours of this morning... Temps are normal and the other corn that's in there with her has kept her meal down.
Any replies appreciated |

Ah, sorry to hear. Leave her for 10 days before a feed, to let her stomach settle, and give her a pinkie for the next 2 or 3 feeds. She'll soon be back to normal.
The usual rule is, leave for 48 hours after feeding, but when I first owned snakes (corn hatchlings) I only used to leave 24 hours before handling. I think she's just been unlucky. |

She seems fine, i noticed it at half four this morning and she was moving around, i checked on her at about ten and she was fine, alert and even gave me a tail rattle which isnt uncommon for here, she always does it! I think I've spooked myself a little with some of the things I've read... The mouse was missing its head from how it looked so she's started digesting it (i think) could this make it worse? I've read that if a snake brings up something that its already started digesting then more than likely something is wrong? She originally struggled with the fluff being slightly bigger but managed to get it down... Could it be that it was just too big to digest?
I get very concerned about my animals |

I've never heard that myself, about digestion beginning, but makes it extra important to let her gut rest.
I know what you mean - we all worry. She'll be fine. |

Ah I know what you mean!
I defrosted several mice for some corns and Sulah overnight, and left them in a bowl on top of the gas fire this morning. Got interested in some vids about royals and West Africa - and when I finally checked the meeces, Missy's mouse had overheated and exploded ...
Had a couple of small mice left over from delivery 6 months ago, perfectly good, reckoned it would be ideal to defrost those for my gannet ...but, unusually, she was languid, and only took one. Now I'm feeling SO guilty - even though her shedding records tell me she's due to go into blue and she's a huge fat lass who won't starve overnight lol.
Terrible how we agonise over these snakes, even though commonsense and the forum tells us they'll be fine. |
