From what I've read about them, they go about 2/3rds up the wall of the hot end, but you might not want to take my word for it.

I've seen these sell for around £30 (second hand) so... maybe a tenner??

Where can I redeem my point?

I havent received my points yet - when will these arrive?

I'm let to beleive that you dont need a guard - an AHS is supposed to be a cerramic heater, thermostat and guard all in one! Plug it in and give it a test, see how hot it gets to the touch.

Just as a side note - I havent used one of these myself, so please dont take my word for anything other than repeating what I've read eslewhere - but you might want to be extra vigilant in the monitoring of your temps, especially at the cold side. The reason I say this is that AHS systems generally seem to be used is larger vivariums, 5foot or more, generally Boa housings. I might be wrong, but I reckon you might struggle to get the cold end low enough while maintaining 32degrees at the hot end. Also, dont trust the inbuilt stat to give true temps - use your thermometers to set the temp, not the stat dial.

Happy playing!

Hi john,
I am currently on holiday, just thought I would see what's going on saw this post, so I thought I would help. I use these myself for my bigger vivs. It will be fine for a smaller viv you just may need to turn the dial on the front down lower than you need. As someone has said use your digital thermometer to set the temp. You can download full instructions from microclimate.co.uk. They are very good. I do use a guard on mine just to let you know , you can get them from Surrey pet supplies or custom guards.although it does have a built in cut off so if the case gets to hot it shuts off temporally, this is all explained though in the instruction manually you need to download. They do initially take quite a while to get right tweaking here there but once set up they hold temp perfectly. Just be paitent with it.
They normally retail about £80 so you have indeed got a bargain.
Good luck.

Cherrs Richard , I'm going to instal it in my spair 3ft viv so it's ready for when I find a get pied female.
Guna place it about 2inch of the floor and I salvaged a piece of steel mesh from work, with a bit of work I think I can make a strong guard

Cherrs everyone
