I know this is Royal Python Forum, but my Cali King has escaped!
I noticed this afternoon. I last saw her in her in viv about 6pm yesterday. Ive turned the house upside down lokking for her but no joy yet. Anyone on here had any experience of this and got any tips on how i should proceed.
How is she likely to behave whilst "free" as i have a dog and don't want any problems there, not to mention my Royal, will she sense the escaped King or worse will the king hunt the royal or even my dog?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, i'm worried sick. |

This is what happened to me a couple of weeks back -

I'm still thinking myself (and Sulah) extremely lucky (she's still a small snake.)
I think the only thing is to keep calm and systematically take the place apart, ignoring no hidey hole. Warm places, like underneath a fridge or freezer, behind a radiator, are a good bet.
If she doesn't turn up, she may be active at night. Some people put down sheets of foil so that they can hear the snake rustling along them.
I don't think the king will hunt the royal or your dog, and as long as the royal's secure I don't think that will be a problem.
Also there is a good sticky, I think, on TCS, about escapees - I'lll hunt out the link now, but in the meantime, got everything crossed for you! Do hope you find her soon!

Found her!!!!
the little blighter had found her way through 2 rooms across the hall and into my airing cupboard and was wrapped around a heating pipe.
Took a lot of wrestling to get her off it but she's home now.
I guess you know how relieved i am BATS.
spending the rest of the evening putting the rooms back together and putting the furniture back. |

Oh that is such good news!
Yes, been thinking about you both and SO glad you got her back! The feeling is AWFUL when a snake goes missing.
Bet you called her all the names under the sun when you found her lol!

Could've rung her neck...if she had one.
Now the story as to what happened.
Changed her water last night slid the door shut and locked it.
This morning saw a gap of about 1cm in the door. When i looked closer i saw a piece of her aspen stuck in runner for the door so the door hadn't shut properly and like all snakes she saw her chance an took it.
I'll be checking in future.

Don't you just! Yeah, found that with the dreaded aspen before, looks great but gets everywhere it shouldn't - I suffer from chronic crunchy sock syndrome!

I too had an escapee around a month ago - as soon as I realised he was missing I just remember thinking "right, where is the most likely route he will have taken?" and found him in under a minute - thankfully he'd not gone far!!

| I only asked as my hubby is very scared of snakes and iam allowed one aslong as he does not have to be anywhere near it,he works alot so this wont be a problem :D, but i dunno what he would do if it escaped, probly pee himself with fear haha |

| Hahah aw I'm happy you found him! I've just wrote a new post on an escapee, luckily found him fairly quickly. It's a horrible feeling when one goes missing. The relief is immense when you find em! :) |

| I plan on keeping our snake in our dinning room,which has the door handle turned upside down,because of our dog, so if it escapes its viv will it be able to get out of the room,i might even invest i a lock for the dinning room door,i read a story about a burmese killing a child while it slept,i know royals are not burmese but they still constrict dont they ,so now iam worried about mine escaping and getting to one of my kids , he can have the husband if it wants though :D |
