I made a 3x2x2ft viv a while ago and I fear it may be made out of pine.

Do I need to treat it with ronsil or something like that in order for it to be safe?

What actually is the issue with pine (if the wood is indeed pine) that makes it bad for herps? I've heard its to do with breathing in the toxins and somebody else said its only bad if they manage to eat some of it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you.

its the oils in pine that is toxic to snakes if its made of pine then i think you need to coat the viv with yacht varnish or some low VOC varnish. someone should be able to confirm if this is right.

the yacht varnish takes a long time to dry an you need to run the heat source for a couple of days as it can release more fumes once heated
