Have few questions which i can't fit exact answers for in any previous posts.
The viv that i have is a 2ftx1ft glass tank. It is a un-used fish tank that i have. i have made a beech surround for it and am still in the process of putting in the air vent and holes for wiring.
Q. Is it possible to place a heat matt under a glass viv, allowing the heat to distribute through the glass?
Q. In the reptile stores I have been in I have seen that many of them have low watt florescent tube lighting. Is this possible/practical in a tank this size? I know that the lighting is not essential but just want to ask the question.
I think that it for now. Just want to get a equipment and viv set up and running and temperature regulated before getting baby Royal.
I know from keeping fish that it is important to have the environment safely established before introducing life to it.
I'll post a few picks when viv is established and new family member arrives. ( the baby royal that is)
many thanks

1. It will be fine aslong as there is a gap a few mm wide between the mat and the surface its on. This will allow airflow and reduce the possibility of the glass cracking.
2. Its possible, but it will benifit you, not the snake.
1. as per matty's reply but to add that some E-T mats are ONLY suitable for glass vivs and come with little feet to stick to the bottom of the viv to give that gap for air flow.
2. tube lighting isn't really recommended. any lighting is purely for our benefit but bulbs are better as they don't constantly flicker and potentially stress the snake.
