Hey :)
I'm now the brand new owner of a super-tiny 11 old day Python :D But.. He's in a really small ice-cream tub thing (10.5cm/18cm) I have a spare faun from when my corn was younger.. At 32cm/18cm
The guys at the shop told me that I should keep him in the tub for about 7 weeks - but he looks really squished. (As I have a small water dish that takes up about 1/5 of the room O.o) So - Would he be better in the faun?
Also; he caught my eye the most as he kept watching me, and when I got him out.. He kept looking up at me. He seems to look up a lot when I have him out.. But it's only really at me, but his head doesn't move when I move. Is that normal? I'm just worried about stargazing etc.. As I want all the best for my new baby :(
Cheers ^^ |

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Do you wear glasses? my royal does this and it was not till i mentioned it to someone else that i realised why he was doing it.
it was because he could see another snake when looking at them....
I used to think he was being cute...lol
my friends boa did it to, but he used to strike at the glasses |

They can also feel the heat from your face.
How long is the snake? |

Nope, I don't wear glasses :P But I was told about heat from my face.. So that'll probably be it :P
Any ideas on if I could move him up this early? Or best to leave him how he is? |

you could do, but that was why Matty was asking how long he is.
Royals like to feel secure and what might seem small to you is not always the case for your royal. |

If hes shorter than 20-30cm's I would leave him in the ice cream tub for a few more weeks. |

Aha, ok.. Well.. He is shorter then 20/30cm. The faun would be quite packed with 2 hides and the water bowl.
This is what he's in now:
This is the faun: (Bearing in mind the water bowl would close the gap between the 2 hides)

Oh, its less room than I thought. Move him into the faun when you can get it set up |

Yes, as Daz says, get a 9L RUB, get a couple of hides and a smaller water bowl.
How are you heating/measuring temps/controlling temps? |

Yeh, I moved him across and he's in his hot-end hide atm That picture does make him + water bowl look a lot bigger then they are. He's about 33cm in length, and the water bowl is 3ish iches (The small exo-terra ones)
I'll look into getting a 9L RUB though.. Will take a looksie at staples. Any suggestions as to which one specifically?
Cheers for advice everyone ^^
EDIT: Heating via heatmat, matstat thermometer and have ordered a digital thermometer (Only using crappy stick on ones atm) |

to make you feel better, what if you bougt a cheapie, not shed/fed yet Royal and it NEVER fed and basically starved itself to death? you'd wish you hadn't bothered! |

Don't be, it'll mostly be CF's at this time of year, give it a month or 2 and there'll be lots of CB's around cheap from UK breeders. |
