When using stats for a stack, what sort are you using? can you get ones that do all three vivs in the stack?

idealy you sould use one stat per viv wen in a stack cos heat rises. so if you have the probe in the bottom viv upper one will get to warm, and if you have it in the upper viv lower one will not get warm enough...

however...

alot off people do use 1 stat for there entire stacks, and sort the occupancy out depnding on the snakes requirement.
All depends on wot you want and how accurate you want your temps to be it to be...

you can buy twin stats.

I wouldnt worry to much about over loading plug just as long as you fuse down your equipment... 3a should be the most your using in all your mats, lamps and ceramics.

i have;

2x 250w ceramics
3x 7w mats
2x 21w mats
6x 14w lamps
5 stats

running off

3x 4 way extention leads
2x timers

all running off one plug socket.

I am using pulse proportional stats there. cos they are running my ceramics.

temperature stats are just the same as a mat stat as in a 'on/off' stat, just that it can run upto 300w instead of 100w.

an RCD is a electrical protection device that seneses if there is a fault current. very sensitive and very quick to trip out.

Highly recommended wen using gardening equipment such as trimmers and lawn mowers in case you cut the cable.

Most new fuse boards have them in built, but cos mine is old it only has the rewireable fuses, so it is just extra protection.

If you set it to 32*C it will prob work in a range of 29-33*C.(ish)

as for using one stat it all depends on the heat transfer between the vivs.

All you can do is set it all up and see how it goes...
