how hard is this and how stressful to both the snake and the person doing it?
Am thinking of taking on a royal that is not feeding properly..
will be good experience |

| assist or force? i dont think assisting is to bad but i would of thought force feeding is very very stressful for the snake |

I have assisted a few times. All I do is open the snakes mouth using a rat pups head, then place the pup as far back as I can (without forcing) then HOPE the snake eats it. Remember, when the snake has the food in its mouth DO NOT MOVE AT ALL. People don't realise what that statement means, it means no movement, AT ALL while the snake is eating.
Worked for a me a few times, never took more than 3 assists before they understand what food smells like. |

| also, as i have seen the ad for the snake you mean, there may be an actual reason why the snake is not feeding that you may be able to remedy. it doesnt really give much detail on the current set up etc. |

I had to assist feed Rocky when I first got him, as Karl says, I just opened his mouth with the mouse/rat's head and then he chomped down. I have tried with others and they have not been interested.
It sounds straightforward, but you have to be strong and firm, but gentle too. |

I would try all other options first depending on the age, weight, condition of the snake.
A tip i was told is to wrap the snake around your wrist so it can 'hold on' and feel secure while gentley holding it head.
