Would you do it if you had a young royal that was not feeding?
i know i said i never would, but am seriously considering this route before i even try frozen thawed..
i am talking rat pups not fully grown mice or anything.. |

In all honesty......... yes, closely monitored and as a last resort before force feeding. Not because I think it's cruel but because I would be concerned about the snake getting hurt.
Hopefully it won't come to that for you though Anne. Plenty of time, patience and weighing before you resort to it . |

some people would live feed a stubborn feeder before assist feeding, others would leave live to the very last resort................ think i'd try live personally (and i might be in this position with Dumbo unless he takes these gerbils regularly). rat/mice pinkies or fuzzies are relatively harmless compared to an adult, and providing it's done with all due care and attention.......
just because live feeding is a taboo subject/practice in the UK, in other places it's commonplace - like for Anatess in the US |

Danny, did you have a young difficult royal?
how old was it?
was it hard to source baby rats?
what was the response from your non feeder?
did you manage to get them onto defrost after? |

if it's rat pups then why not, there is no chance of damage to the snake, and helps with a feeding response |

Yes, I would use live-feeding if necessary, no second thoughts. |

Well I got 2 royals on live food and they was on live when bought them well i think so he had so many to feed in was just easyer to live feed for him im talking 200+Royals. I did try all the methods out there instead of live feeding and after all that its just easyer to live feed Im only talking about rat pups at the mo but now they are on weaners as of next week and they have teath now so just have to see if they strike in all the right places fingers crossed. I buy the live food from where i bought the royals but now have started breeding my own rats
sorry for long post |

am not happy doing it GP, but i am thinking along the lines that this girl has been assist fed since December and rather than mess her around go straight live, i will try her one feed defrost, if that does not work, then i will go live. |

With the live food aswell its seconds and bang its all over so much more quicker and harder compared to feeding the frozen food to my others they seem lazy compared to the live feeders |

Depends how you put it across, I think generally there is a positive attitude towards live feeding if other methods have been exhausted and it is necessary. |

i would have no problem feeding live, probably get flamed for this but if there was NO risk of injury to my snake i would feed live to keep it as it would be for them in the wild. |
