Okay folks just needing a bit of advice.
was planning to get 09 normal royal at the end of the month. Price £80 from a well established specialist reptile and exotic animal store.
How ever have been in communication with a smaller establishment and breeder I have met them and seen how he cares for his snake ( normals and a range of morphs)
He now has hatchlings available £45 each.
Would it be crazy to buy 2 females now considering i was going to spend £80 on 1.??? |

£80 is shop price for an 09. 45 quid each is a decent price from a breeder. |

well I called him there now had a bit of a chat.
see I have been doing a bit more reading ( i really should stop though. too many contradictions) Keeping snakes a practical guide. In it , it suggests that you could keep several juvenile royals in the one vivarium. So i look around some of the forums and it was the usual no you can't, yes you can thing.
So anyway called and asked him what he thought. he said basically he wouldn't recommend it. Had a long chat about stressing environments could add to problems feeding. etc etc etc.
so I decided that although it would be absolutely great to have two babies. the health and well being of the snake was my main concern .
Better to have 1 perfect healthy baby than 2 poorly ones.
So I will be collecting on the 1st of June My very first Royal.(female)
He did say that if I wanted he would hold the other one other for me and I could collect it at the start of July. So you never know between now and then I might build another viv and a bring two sisters back together
He will have some Mojave, Spider Ball and Pinstripe hatchlings available soon if any one is interested I can give you his email. |

That's good to hear, someone putting animal welfare over a sale, and good on you for checking around. |

Good advice from him there.
better than the reputable rep shop in York that i visited the other day, advising a relative noob that it was fine to put 2 corn hatchlings in together.............. i caught her outside the shop and explained why it wasn't such a good idea. i should have pointed out that shops house hatchlings individually, and they do it for a reason! (despite what they tell you!) |

I wish more shops would give out sound advice and take the time to build a good reputation for themselves instead of going for the quick sale of another snake. |

Hi all.. yeah have to agree with you all. Good on him for not trying to push a sale. and also for being willing to hold a second one for me for a month if i wanted to get a second viv set up.
I think that what helps is that this guy ( Tony ) is a snake keeper first and form most and has just allowed his hobby to expand in to a retail kind of out let
To MOURNE yes breeder is in N.Ireland, just outside Lurgan.
Below is his web site address. it is still a work in progress. I know he will be offer in the states next week and not back until end of month.

if any one does get in touch with him let him know that i pointed you he his direction please. he'll know me as Sean Paul
To spuddastu as I am sure you are aware you would pay a lot more than £45 for the morph hatchlings.
He also has an 07 Albino male and an 09 Pastel male available. |
