As you may or may not know I am new to all this so advice/critique would be appreciated please
And a few questions
1) After a visit to the local reptile shop today they advised me that if I waas worried to take the heat guard off the lamp, and it would not be needed if I had a mat. (they have no guards in the shop.
2)Is the water bowl big enough and in the right place
3)Should I get another hide for the cool side ??
4) How do I clean the glass inside the tank in the middle where they overlap ??
Im sure there was more, but I will post as I remember
Sorry for all the stupid questions |

AWESOME SET-UP!
My suggestions:
When you get a chance, exchange the dial thermometers with either a digital one or, for the best - a temp gun.
1.) The lamp guards are absolutely necessary if the lamp is there. You can use a heat mat too, but that's just preference. Nothing wrong with the lamp unless you can't get your humidity up to 50% then you can try the mat instead of the lamp.
2.) The water bowl is perfect and on a good spot.
3.) Yes, I say add a hide for the cool side.
4.) Do both glass doors go on either side? If so, then slide one of the glass panels all the way to the other side while moving the other a few inches the other way to expose the back of the glass for cleaning.
Hope this helps! Great royal you got there too! |

Yeah all as above perhaps a bit more greenery for a bit more shelter a cover. and just to second that if using a heat lamp you definitely need a guard.
apart from that looking good. |

Thanks for the feedback, Im going to get another hide, and a couple more plants this week.
Right more questions
I have now taken the thermostat off the heat mat (mat not on btw) and am now using it for the lamp. I hadnt turned the light on since she got stuck behind the guard as I was really paranoid. I moved the lamp right into the corner, is this ok ? and will the lamp generate enough heat by itself ?
The temp probe is currently top right, but I read that this should be under the lamp ??
I was a bit worried about the mat as she was burying down into the bark and was getting close to the mat.
Also, I have been told its a "her", but after seeing the amount of wrong things done by the previous owner is there a way to tell ? Also how do I tell how old she is ??
Sorry so many questions again |

Is the bulb ceramic or light emmiting? If its a light bulb then dont use a mat stat, get a dimmer. Its best to measure the temperature near or in the warm hide below the bulb. |

Its a red bulb.
Ok I will move it. Will it be ok to leave it where it is until the weekend, as she was handled a lot when I got her so I have left her alone for the last couple of days, and plan to do so until the weekend. |

The flashing of the bulb may stress the snake out. If it was me I would just go back to the mat for a few days. |
