I found this website and I wanted to share it with you all!
I have build this myself, cost about $10 due to me using a different switch and the 6' extension cord was a little more expensive!
Let me know what you all think!

A Dimmer switch would give me no peace of mind I'm afraid. Yes you could set the temperature using a thermometer, but the power is still constant so if it was a hot day the viv would be hotter than on a cold day.

Ive heard of a few people using these which i think are a very similar device.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dimmer-Socket-Switch-Light-Table-Lamp-Mains-Plug-in_W0QQitemZ400052243949QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_DIY_Material_Electrical_Fittings_MJ?hash=item5d24f8cded&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

I personally wouldn't use them, but saying that i do have one as a back-up in case any of my stats fail. You can pick them up for less than £5. I think my dad got me mine for £1...

your very right about that and I will switch to a thermostat soon, but for now, this has worked great and my room temp stays constantly between 75-78, so it really doesn't spike up the temp a lot (and I am checking this with the AccuRite's highest temp indicator).
