Okay I got my first royal yesterday (I'm so happy with him :D) but I was just wondering if it's normal for him to always be about his RUB looking for an escape route? he's doing it right now...just keeps going round and round standing up flicking his tongue, 'testing' different parts and just crawling all over the place..is this normal? During the day he is a little less active and does hide away for some time but it's not long before hes out roaming again. He's due a feed on saturday, could he be hungry? I'm just concerned, I hope he's not uncomfortable or anything.. Oh and temps are fine, got 2 hides on both ends and water bowl in between so I know that's fine.. |

lol and that's exactly what happened to me, so enjoy it. When I first got mine, it did the same thing, always trying to escape, cruising around the viv all night, and now, he got comfortable and just chills in his hide out at night, just sticks his head out to say wuz sup and then hides back in there. At first I was a little freaked out and worried, but from what I have been reading, it's a normal thing, so I hope it really is a normal thing Question though, is it still ok to just lift up the house and get him or her out and play with it a little, or do you guys think it will just stress it out?? Thanks. |

leave him to settle in for at least a week (if not two) before interacting at all....... it's hard but it's worth it in the long run |

Mine's exactly the same, she came out for a roam around a couple of nights ago but mostly she stays in her cave and just sticks her head out now and then. |

Hi
I have had Harriet 3 weeks now and some nights she is out and exploring everywhere or if I pick her up she is really energetic and some nights she just hides and if I pick her up then she just sits in my hand and looks at me. Maybe its just what they feel like at the time. Last night she was some kind of Houdini impersonator trying to find a way out for a couple of hours! She is fantastic - just love her. Trying to get her to pose for a pic but not easy!

i get mine out on the third day after their last feed. example if i feed them on sat i will get them out on tuesday for bout 20 mins each, i do this up until the day before i next feed them, some people will tell you not to do this cos too much handling stresses them out but my 2 are fine, they eat and shed with no problems and are very friendly. if you want them to be used to being handled then i suggest having him/her out for two days a week at first for bout 5 mins, see how he/she likes it and then go from there.

yea that would be fine, if she gets a little hissy then just see how she gets on and if shes still moody then put her bk. u got to be confident with her tho so dont hover over her, let her know ur there and then just get her out. myn dont get stressed when i get them out and i got two ov em to deal with lol

You have to get them out of their hides sometimes- otherwise you'd never see them. |
