i have put my pythons bowls of water at the end of the vivs where the basking lamp and heat mat are my snakes love just laying in the water but i dont know whether or not it is to hot
i have mine at the warm end as the lamp i use makes the humidity very dry but if your humidity is ok put it at the cool end or in the middle as BE said.
Queenie has his in the cool end - no lack of humidity issues with orchid bark.
one thing to add though - snakes often poo around the perimeter of their enclosure, so moving it a few inches in from the side will hopefully prevent 'accidents' in the water bowl!
my royals love pooping and peeing in there hides. hope had a wee in her hide the other day and it was like some one had emptyied a cup of water in there. had to do a full clean out and disinfect it. dirty girl.
