My snake was due to shed soon after i got him. So with him still settleing in the shed wasnt as smooth as could of been. he had a scattered shed and 90% is complete however there is still a dead layer of skin on the top of his head that hasnt yet started to peel away. how can i help him shed it? alos is it safe to help him by peeling off dead skin for him?

thanks

If he's happy to let you,you could try a damp cloth and gently rub the patch from head to tail direction if its still on after a few days.

Give him a bath in inch-deep luke warm water for 10-15 mins and then let him run through a towel a few times, or leave him in a pillow case with lots of scrunched up damp newspaper and a bit of wood or a rock for an hour.

If you try and peel him you could damage the scales underneath.

putting in a damp hide can help but they're not guaranteed to use it

increase the humidity by moving your water bowl closer to the warm end...

but only as a short term fix as prolonged humidity can cause RIs (respiratory infections)
