I have a heatmat that i would like to use in a viv, but it has one of those sealed plugs on it, as i am a woman...( no comments ) what is the best way to get this wired into my viv? Do i need to cut the wire and attatch another plug? I cant even unscrew it..to take the wires out, i am presuming it must of been for underneath a tank, but putting it under the viv i have would be useless....
Thanks |

i done the man thing and cut it off,it wont affect the working of the mat just makes the warranty void,it's a gamble but it's not very often mats break. As sexychef said just make sure you use the right amp fuse,i think it's a 3amp. |

It is.
How is the viv you have assembled? You can remove the bottom pannel on some and slide the mat in without cutting the plug. |

I am not sure never looked underneath it, i will figure something out, i would rather do what your suggesting than take the plug off..
on another note, can you use a dimmer with a ceramic? |

Hi Wolf, all i had to do on my heat mat was to take the wires out of the plug and after threading it through the viv, connect it up again. It may be best to look for a heat mat which you can do this with to avoid any accidents.
Good to know Peanut is is well again. I have been off here for a while due to moving home. |

You can also remove the air vent, cut a notch in the vent for the cable to fit into, put the plug through the hole then put the vent back in.

That sounds quite a good idea from Dave. Hope you get it sorted Wolf. Yes, I have moved to Rowlands Castle, which is just north of Portsmouth. A very nice place thank you. |

Yes we have Adders around here. I was out walking a couple of dogs just over a year ago in some woods and just happened to look down at the right moment to see what looked like a young Adder. It did not hang around long, so soon dissapeared. When I got back home I checked the markings on the Internet and am sure it was an adder. Was so good to see :-) |

god that must have been a shock, was it before or after the wash?
Colin, there may well be Adders not far from me on the downs, i have never gone to look for them, but maybe i will keep an eye out next time i am up there, i suspect that there would probably be to many people about though... |
