I've recently brought my royal Basil home and he is settling in well. Although he tends to sleep all through the day. When he does emerge my cat sits in front of the viv and paws at him. Obviously he isn't able to get to him but I am wondering if this will upset Basil? I've put a towel over the glass to stop the cat trying to get him but I'm concerned this won't be any good for Basil either. Has anyone else had anything similar and if so any good course of action.

Thanks in advanced for any help you can provide.

could possibly stress him out with the cat being there personally i would try to put the viv off the floor somewhere so the can can't sit in front of it.

Thank you for the response.

I have a proper key lock so no way he can get in. The stress is my biggest concern, although he doesn't seem bothered I know they aren't always ready to read. The viv is of the floor but the cat is still able to get close.

cool no chance of a wedge getting knocked out then.
see how it goes an weather it stresses him at all ie not feeding, the cat may also get bored after a while
it the cat there every time basil is out an about?

My misses cats sit in front of my royals vivs all the time ive never had any bother with it what so ever the snakes dont seem to bother and the cats just sit and stare at them altho the only time my snakes venture out is when its getting near feeding day or occasionally il catch a glimpse of them some nights but they are generally realy lazy animals and dont move around alot

Ive got 4 cats and they like sitting on top of my wooden vivs as it's warm up there! They aren't particularly interested in the snakes if I have them out. They will sometimes watch Sas if he is slithering up and down the glass!

Royals - Sas, Boris & Ria
Boas - 1 called Titch until we can think of a name for her!
Cats - Felix, Becky, Max & Willow

Hi thanks all for responding. It didn't look like it was upsetting the snake to much but the cat was getting a bit obsessed so we moved him a bit higher hopefully that will work
