i keep both my male royals together in a 1.5 foot terranim, they seem really happy, because they are in glass i have put the terranium against the wall and kitted it out with two hides, a water bowl and lots of fake plants so they feel secure. are your royals housed seperatly? |

well was planning to move Nimue and Freyja into 12L Rubs. bought them yesterday drill sanded cleaned etc paper 3 hides moss hide and water bowl. a few bits of foliage and a bit of ripped up paper on top so nice a snug.
But before i was going to move them i wanted to try a feed one more time in the viv as i had it packed out a bit more and have had the glass covered for the last week.
alas no success again!!! even tried scenting one of the pinkies by giving it a good Rub on one of my sons gerbils ( the gerbil didn't like that) anyway still no luck. the two of them almost seem afraid of the food having a bit of a look and then moving as far away from it as they can possibly get...
so i have moved them into the rubs now and re heated the pinkies and put them into one of the hides. will leave over night to see if there is any joy.
Tony who i bought them from has offered to take them back for a while to try and get them started again if there is still no joy by next week. |

I would trt them on something slighly bigger than a pinky. they may not be thinking a meal that size is food. try a small mouse or a rat pup... |

no anne not yet. and they have both lost 2g in weight. think i'll leave them in with tony tomorrow evening to see if he can get them going. had wanted to try them myself now that they are in the rubs and will have been in them a week before they are due to be fed. but the fact that they are starting to lose weight is putting me of and i think it would be better for them to be back with him and have had a few days to settle before he feeds.
what are your thoughts? |

my thoughts are let him get four or five consecutive feeds into them before you take them back, let them really get the message about feeding..
i think your doing the right thing... |

cheers anne. I agree. they will be having several feds before they return. I should have let them have that before I brought them home. i guess i was really showing my lack of experience and assumed that I wouldn't have been able to take them if they were not ready to go.....
feel a bit of a failure.....

dont be silly.....
having read all the threads here, i was given a choice on my new baby, i could take her from fresh no feeding or after five feeds...i took the easy route...but even that is no guarantee
it could have been the other way round, they could have been feeding ok...it is just one of those things that happens...
dont feel down about it, i know how it is to stress over them, they are your babies after all...no different i guess than humans..well not with me anyway...
good luck and keep us posted ok.. |

will do. and cheers for all the help and support. i know what you mean. all the animals in our house are part of the family to us, not just pets. he was offering to swap them for me for two that having been feeding but i couldn't do that.
will keep you up dated and let you know when he manages to get them back on feeding plan.. |
