No hint really...just need to start ruling things out. X-ray should confirm if there is any skeletal remains in there or not, If it seems clear then its a scan of the heart to look for any abnormalities...

Well been to the vets again today for X-rays.

The results are that there is no food trapped in that area... I saw the x-rays of the area and she is quite full there. There is a mass about 7cm x 4cm where the heart is. so its back to the vets on tuesday for a ultra sound to see if they can tell if it is a oversized heart or a pericardium problem...

Is a a pericardium problem heart as well?

its good news then that there is nothing trapped, though i guess that would have made life easier,

fingers crossed for you and Sheila Daz

Cheers guys...

From wot I have read a enlarged heart is not that uncommon...and yes Anne the pericardium is the sack that surrounds the heart. It may have a build up of fluid in it that will need to be drained or treated...

By the way, vets are expensive...

wonder if you can get pet insurance for reps? or a collection as a whole? and yeah, having just had my dads dog break his leg in two places (£1800!!!) I can confirm vets are indeed expensive

Hi guys sorry I havent replyed sooner but only got the results today...

it turns out that 1 of her heart chambers (snakes have 3..) is enlarged/dilated. It is untreatable as not enough is known about snakes and may never cause her a problem through out her life, and upto now doesnt seem to have as she is eating well and has already laid eggs once.

The cause of it is impossible to say, but possible causes are injury, heart disease and also the chance it could be hereditary. As I have only had her a short time and dont know her full history it is impossible to say.

Unlucky mate, this scupper your chances of breeding her? Or are you still doing so? So long as she is ok in herself I suppose all is ok.
