Hi. In need of advice again
My snake coiled up in her water bath about five hours ago and apart from a little tongue flicking hasn't moved since. Any ideas why? It's the first time I've seen her show the slightest interest in the water. She looks very cute in there but is it ok to leave her?

she will be fine, as soon as she feels like she needs to move she will
the thing you should be looking at are why she is in her water bowl. when she evenually leaves have a look in her water bowl if there are any little black dots, these are mites, as this is one reason why royals curl up in there water bowls, to get rid of mites
i think, and dont quote me on this one, that another reason is that they are too warm, so cool down in there water bowl.

As danny said also
1. insecurity, do you have at least 2 tight fitting hides.
2. Coming up to a shed, What' s the humidity in the viv. Central heating can dry the air a lot.

Hi its fine to leave her in there she won't "Die" < from being in there , and there could be many reasons to why she is in it ranging from the following:

She likes water baths

She could be trying to drown MITES

She could be to hot

She just wants to go swimming

And so on ..

Hope that helps with your question.

Just keep an eye on your temps, if they are fine then check for mites when snakey comes out.

I would take her out instead of waiting, just have a check over. Also raise your humidity up. good luck.

she moved out after about 17 hours! she coiled herself around the IR light basket for about an hour. in the meantime i took out the water bath and put it on a white piece of paper. i saw a very few black specks but i did see flakes of skin. i will check again today as she has gone in again.
