Tried to Feed Yoda again tonight, and again absolutely no interest in mousey. It's been three weeks now since his regurge and shed. I have brought the temp in the viv up slightly as it was a little bit low now sitting around the 86 degrees in hot end. Have also dropped the size of mousey to try to encourage eating. At the moment I am not overly worried, as his weight is not really changing, he is still very active at night and drinking plenty, still getting urate droppings. I am now considering moving him into a smaller RUB or changing his viv to a wooden one to encourage him to feed. Any other suggestions as I would like to get him to eat before I head off for some sun in 5 weeks.

Hi, I'm not good at converting fahrenheit to celsius, but the hot end should be 32c ... I think you need to up it a bit.
In my early snake-keeping days I was told that low temps = regurge - so at least a simple problem that can be solved.
It won't have done him any harm to fast for a bit since the regurge and yes, a smaller mouse is absolutely right, although eventually it'll be best to get him on to rats - more nourishing and convenient size for a royal.
It's also a good idea not to handle when a snake's not eating, and personally I wouldn't change his housing as this could stress him more.
Good luck, hope he starts eating soon.

Ha - I googled it and got told that 86f is 30c!
Even so, if it was lower, you've got the clue to Yoda's regurge and, as I said, simple problem to solve.
Good luck whatever. |
