Hi all
My royal was introduced into his new viv 6 days ago, up till then the breeder told me he has been eating consistently weekly and striking well, however ive introduced food to him twice now and he's showing no interest....am i doing anything wrong?

age of snake, size of viv and what temps have you got.

In all honesty 6 days is nothing to worry about royals can take time to settle and get used to their new housing.

Monty is about 4-5 months old, he's in a 2' viv and generally seems happy with the surroundings. Temperatures are 31.8 & 28.7.

6 days is nothing for a Royal, even a fairly young one.
Although I would suggest having the temps a degree colder both ends.
28 and 31 or there abouts

dont see any problems with your temps at all would leave it where it is.

Would give it a weeks break and dont handle just let it be for this week.

Yeah I wouldn't say the temps at that would be a reason for not eating, just never known anyone have them that high before...
And leave him for a week or so before offering food.

I had a female royal that was eating fine until I moved her from a rub to a viv and she went off food for 3 months and then suddenly started eating like there was no tomorrow - lol

You're not doing anything wrong, that behaviour is normal. What isn't normal is a royal python eating every week :P
Just keep track of his weight and don't worry until it begins to drop too much, even if he doesn't feed for a year :)

My Ziska will NOT feed unless the rodent's left overnight these days ...just don't leave in the viv over the next day, and any sign of bloated belly (rodent that is, not snake) ditch the poor little critter fast as it's decomposing and gases are building up.
