For weeks now a snake named Sula has been haunting me. It started with my thinking - I must do Sula's waterbowl. Today I was talking on the phone and said - Sula's eating really well.
I haven't got a Sula.
But - going to see a cb11 Irian Jaya Carpet python tomorrow ...'Sula' is old Norse for 'gannet' and 'Sulah' is Urdu for 'reconciliation' but also, 'Sula' is Indonesian for 'Island'.
Barring disasters, watch this space for pics tomorrow afternoon! |

LOL Reptilemadd - I did, I did, but reckoned without the addiction!
Thing is, I like vivs, and this guy may need a 4' when larger - but if I ever decide on a rack, you will be the first person I call on. Good luck with the venture! |

Only kidding to be honest I prefer vivs to but unfortunately from a breeding point of veiw not to mention the lack of space I will need my own rack sooner rather than later, good news though I should be able to get a bit of a discount lol, It must get quite big then cause four foot vivs take up some space I couldn't believe It when I finished my beardies good luck with your new addition |

Thanks guys - just dashing off now to make myself look human after sleepless night (excitement.) Lol Reptilemadd, Irian Jayas can grow up to 6-7' but they're slim-bodied and are usually a bit smaller than that but have to plan ahead just in case - as I live alone I don't have to argue with a partner about keeping the place looking posh so vivs go wherever there's space - only the kitchen and bathroom don't have vivs in them - and it's incredible the places you can find to squeeze a viv in if you're not preoccupied with interior decor ...
Back soon with pics, I hope! |

Here she is!
My photography isn't of the best, I'm afraid. She was good as gold when I met her and wrapped herself tightly round my wrist and didn't want to climb into her pillowcase and polybox. But I'm told she has her moments so there's some fun in store lol.
I also met some boas, a burm, a tiger retic I think it was, a tarantula and the most amazing fantasy horned pacman ...he was circular with amazing markings. He was for sale too ...took me all my willpower not to come away with him as well as Sulah.
She's now tucked up in her viv. |

Thanks Janie - lol, one of these days I'm going to have to make out an armchair walkies rota but in fact it works out pretty well as there is nearly always a good percentage of snakes who are blue, digesting or just being plain antisocial (the royal fast makes them very withdrawn; mine are clearly not enthusiastic about being got out even for a quick check and handle.)
I tend to wait until the snake asks - for instance the other day I was sleepless at 5am and had Ziska tucked into my sweater for an hour or two, and then later in the afternoon Spooky came and did the same - mature snakes aren't as zippy as youngsters and you can give them longer while reading or surfing or whatever - it's very soothing.
Hope you get your burm, Chris, wish I'd asked to hold them but didn't want to disturb the snakes ...wow, that granite burm - to die for! If I had the space and the physical strength that would definitely be on my wishlist ...!!!
Thanks Mystra - I'm really thrilled with her - can't believe how the name came before the snake - yet again ...lol - good excuse eh?? |

haha that's my excuse too.... loved the name Chancho... but it needed a snake... but not a corn... something fat ... and i just needed the royal to match his name!
She's going to be such a beauty (well she is now of course!) when she's fully grown, magnificent snakies! |
