Fed Spidey my female spider 2 days ago, checked her over for signs
of shed, no pink belly, no cloudy eyes that i could tell. Now she is
as wrinkly as a very wrinkly thing, and in a bad shed :( . As if I
noticed earlier i would of sprayed the viv a few times a day to aid her.
Is there any other ways to tell of a shed? Just slightly annoyed as
when Jebus got the cloudy eyes i sprayed him daily and he came out with
a perfect shed. Meh, expertise will come with experience :)

Their bellies tend to go pink a few days before their eyes cloud over and the skin darkens. A few days after that the eyes clear up, then usually within the next day or two they'll strip off :D

I've give her a few baths now, her rear half is all new and shiny,
from her middle to her head inst coming off, do i just keep bathing
and let her escape from the towel technique? Will it come off itself
with time or am i just being too hasty?

Thanks, Matt

put her in a damp pillow case for 10-15 mins the damp an friction helps get stuck shed off or bathe her an if you can juntly work the edge loose with a wet cotton bud

She has only got shed left from her head about 4 inches down her neck, I've bathed her every day, damp pillow case'd her too, nothing seems to be getting the shed off. Her eyes are all wrinkly too, assuming that is just the skin over them, should i peel the skin off? Is it ok to do this or any other tricks i can do?

Thanks, Matt.

I've used this a couple of times -

http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/zoo-med-repti-shedding-aid-64ml-md-31.html

It's safe to spray on eyecaps - my carpet had some stuck shed on her head and I used the shedding aid and pillowcased her and it came off like a dream. You can also use it between sheds - I do the end of one of my corns' tails as she always retains it and hope to see results next shed.

You can also get some similar stuff to put in a bath -

Hope this helps - good luck with her.

Haven't had much time the last few days for my snakeys.. i have been giving her a daily bath and a damp pillow case in her viv so she can go in and out as she pleases, but nothing seems to be getting rid off all this stuck shed and eye caps :S, will be going later to get some stuff to aid her shed, but if its the stuff that goes in the water to bath, she wont take to that very well, as she does not like bathing 1 little bit! Sorry if this doesn't make much sense lol

Matt.

Makes perfect sense to me - best buy the spray on stuff and try this method - she can't argue with you then lol.

Good luck!

Royal shed is tougher than colubrid shed - think I mentioned on that thread that I had to do Surahi twice, but very sorry to hear Spidey's having such difficulties.

I must confess I've never had to deal with such a difficult shed myself - maybe someone will come along soon with more knowledge.

Do wish I could have helped more; it may be that you may have to wait until her next shed now, unless anyone else can suggest something else; do hope they can - all the very best with her.

No, she may not be with stuck eyecaps, but royals can last a long long time without feeding - hard for us but I have a girl who's fasted all winter and still isn't eating and has lost no weight. I'd be more concerned about the eyecaps - ah! just remembered!

There is this - never tried it myself but could be worth trying?
