Hi all,
i'm a little concerned about monty as he's shedding alot lately, a few months ago i swapped his old water bowl for a new one as it was too small, bought a cat litter tray lol, he loves his new bath, the problem i'm having now is he keeps shedding, he's just gone blue again this will be the fourth time in the last three months!!! Could he just be growing? He's approx 4yr old and already 4 1/2 ft. He's eating well so not too worried, any advice very welcome

I'd guess he'd only shed if he was growing, have you noticed an increase is size/weight?

The last time i weighed him was 1589g, he looks a little wider havent been able to measure his length recently as the other people in the house won't go near him will go weigh him again now, just thought it a little weird that he keeps shedding as before this only shed twice since i got him

Hi, Scorpio, is he soaking all the time, as worst case scenario could be mites.

At his age it's very unusual to shed so frequently, but snakes troubled by parasites/skin problems will shed more often to rid themselves of the problem.

Obviously you'd notice if he had any skin problems but have you noticed any black specks in his water bowl? Also when did he start soaking?

Again, this really is worst case scenario - some snakes just do like to soak, and no problems, and hope this is the case with him.

hi bats, he soaked in it for first couple days that i put it in but since then he's not really been in it, spends all his time up on his shelf in cool end, checked him and he's clear only thing he gets in his water is his substrate! The people i got him from said he refused alot for them, since he settled in with me he's only refused twice and both times were due to being blue. Once this shed is done i'm gonna clean out the viv and maybe change his subtrate using orchid bark at min

I would just give him a thorough check over, make sure the scales are all OK etc nothing hiding under them. If there is nothing you can put it down to it may be a injury that has pretty much shed out completely by now, keep an eye on it and see what happens.

will have a thorough check of him once he's finished shedding, hope he's ok , i did put some rough rocks in his viv to help with his sheds as they're usually bitty, they're not that not rough though just not smooth
