Umm, nearly added a new topic but thought I'd just stick it in here.
I've been reading a lot of people reckon F10 nebulizing does the trick with RIs. If I get no response to the Baytril, has anyone tried this and can give me pointers? |

Read something the other day about helping hydration by injecting the mouse/rat with extra water, might be worth a try. |

I think it's something to do with the way lucozade re-hydrates you, like elecrolyte drinks and supplements. Reptoboost pretty much turns the water into an energy drink.

Well, still on the anti-biotics but I think he is getting there. Not eating, but I put that down to the fact I'm opening his mouth and force feeding him horrible tasting liquid every night.
Still got my fingers crossed though. |

Just to update, I have to give Sid another 5 lots of anti-biotics, and tinned food. After that I'm gunna leave him be (except for changing the water) for like 2 weeks and just see if he'll eat after that. I would have thought he would be uber-stressed after all the force feeding. |

I know, the first week I had him was SO hard.
To be honest, I want him to get better so badly, if it will help I'm gunna have to do it. |

This is referring back to the 'dented eye' thing by the way BE.
Ok so I'm a bit confused now.
A while ago, when all this started, Sid's shed went really badly. So I upped the humidity, gave him regular baths and sat him in damp pillowcases etc etc. When I had got the most off (except the head) he started showing signs of what I thought was an RI.
Since then he's been on antibiotics, and the symptons showed no sign of calming down until I managed to remove the shed from his head.
Only reason I say this, is because when the nose piece came off, it came out of his 'nostrils' aswell, as if the shed might have been blocking his breathing, because now he seems back to normal almost.
Basically, he showed signs of dehydration so I upped humidity, but then he showed signs of it being too damp, but I'm starting to think that the RI symptoms were just caused by the shed blocking his breathing, anyone ever heard of this?
Sorry but thats the best way i can explain... it works out alot clearer in my head. |

it makes sense but no, i've not heard of it before. usually the airways are wide enough for breathing not to be compromised by a bad shed but maybe a bit of a mucous 'plug' came out with the shed and solved the problem? |

Nevermind, I was hoping it wasn't an RI after all but maybe it was. On with the leaving him alone for ages... It's torture and it hasn't even been a week. |
