well if i could find the non feeders club thread i would be signing up.
i have had Nimue and Freyja for 18 days and they still will not eat. on the 22nd it will be 1 month from they last ate.

I am starting to worry now but because they are young and have only ever eaten twice.

thawing pinkies for 1hr on shelf i put below air vents then heating with a reflector lamp for about 20sec.
holding with thongs giving a bit of a wiggle but nothing. one of them just looks at it the other seems a bit afraid of it at times.
have been braining. tried feeding in viv, out of viv have left in over night. tried fuzzies tonight and still nothing. tried placing them in rub full of crumbled newspaper and putting food in a hid buried under paper but nothing.

I will weigh them again at week end to see if they are losing anything!

Hope everyone is well? Haven't been on much lately want to get these girls settled first.

It's a shame you took them home after only two feeds to be honest. I wasnt allowed to take my cf09 home until he had, had five feeds (i was lucky enough to be allowed to do the last two in the shop)

I'm sure you've posted before but what set ups do you have them in? I would leave it a good five days before trying again. The only disturbance should be changing there water every other day.

I defrost in a freezer bag in hot, not boiling, water. This also warms the body through and then i give it a blast with the hairdryer so the whole body is nice and hot. I then wiggle and BAM
If that doesnt work, brain it and hairdryer it again and offer.

Good luck

Ant.

Are they big enough to try on rat pups?

Sometimes they just prefer them to mice.

Maybe the thongs are distracting them LOL

Sorry, I know how worrying it was when my new baby didn't after just one week, but I couldn't resist.

Following some kind advice on here, I added a hide in the cool end and a digital thermometer to monitor the temps, then he ate straight away. Don't know if this is relevant to you or not as I don't know your set up.

Mine loves rat pups, maybe try those, he almost took my hand off last night. Warmed it up under an electric heater in bathroom.

Good luck!

be getting them well hot and focusing more on the head. as pinkies seem to start to melt when they get to hot. with the fuzzy i left it to thaw for two hours then left in hot water for a couple of minutes and then set on reflector lamp for about 40secs again giving the head a good go and splitting head as well!!!

Yeah Anne they are in vivs 2ftx1ft. Infra red heat lamp. hides both ends. moss hide in middle branches leafy vines, aspen bedding water bowl at warm end to boost humidity as it has been staying in low 30's in one of the vivs. last night i decided to cover up the front glass with news paper so they can't see out into the room.

Last night Nimue slept in the viv with the fuzzy and just ignored it.

Thinking I might have to go out and buy a heat mat and move them in to rubs until they are a bit bigger and hopefully they will start feeding.

they were 50g and 52 g last week. they are now exactly( going to weigh then right now) the same. using dial scales at the minute buying digital ones tomorrow.
Freyja was very hissy there went i went to lift her. must be becuase the news paper is up. she was also starting to bury herself in the aspen when i first went to the viv. have noticed a few we holes in it before.

Freyja seems ok mood still the same she is at 50grams. its Nimue at 52g that has chanced mood wise, even when i went to lift her out she just sat no movement all and she just doesn't feel as strong as her sister or as she did......
and there are definitely no mites and have been picking out solid urinates from bedding.

i know if they are not losing any weight "keep trying and don't worry"
but as we all know its easier said than done..

sometimes things can seem worse than they are..

what stats are you using? you might be able to get away with a rub inside the viv if your on pulse stats

thanks Anne. It really is that parental thing where you just what everything to be perfect.

using dimming stats. went for them as they seemed the most versatile as they can be used with any heat source really. well that is according to the package info and there has to be a minimum load of 40w. Although I'm not sure about buying a 40w heat mat when most are only 7w-10w.

they had only eaten twice they would have been getting their third feed the night i went to pick them up but I didn't know that until i was there. They have shed twice as well again before i got them.
they feed on the 14th and 22nd of May each has a pinkie on both occasions. And the other which are still with the breeder are all eating ok.

just seems a bit strange that they are both not eating. It most be the vivs as they were in rubs before. wel have to get that sorted with in the next week.

maybe if you try making the vivs smaller, by adding a section or something it will work..would save you going out buying mats,

have you got any pics of your set ups..are they crowded with plants and hides?

try not 2 worry 2 much(easier said than done). when i bought mine he did'nt eat 4 about 8 weeks, but since he started, he is now eating fine.all i did was kept making slight changes 2 the viv, but the best thing i did was 2 crowd with branches, rocks and artificial plants. once it was crowded, he has eaten every time since. thanks 2 the people on this site 4 giving different advice

just on my way to bed, but wanted to say that i would give it a bit longer, maybe crowd out the viv a bit more with plants or something..make it look smaller...

if they are not losing weight they might just need a little more time to settle in...
